Mercatus is excited to welcome Todd Slater to our growing team as Director of Solutions Engineering. Todd is our second employee in the APAC region and he is based in Singapore. He has held a variety of positions in financial solutions engineering and sales, including more than a decade at SunGard and FIS. We recently sat down with him to learn more about his new role and what brought him to Mercatus.
What is your role at Mercatus and what are you hoping to accomplish?
My role is very focused on solution engineering. As part of a team of two people in Asia, I am very excited to kick-start the business in 2023 and get the momentum moving forward.
What is your career background / story?
My career has spanned expertise in technical analysis, sell-side securities finance, and buy-side investment management software. I’ve spent several years in sales and happily worked in the area of solutions engineering.
In your past role(s) what are some unmet needs from private market investors around data management technology?
There is a huge amount of global business news that is used as part of the decision-making process in the private markets. Combining filtered business, industry, and market trend news in combination with performance data is an unmet need. If a GP plans to buy a hotel in Singapore, he or she will also research attractions in the city via the news.
What excites you about Mercatus?
The global solutions engineering team, their knowledge of the private markets, and the level of detail that goes into providing the best solution.
How do you see private market technology evolving over the next decade?
We will likely see more specialized benchmarking data providers.
