Mercatus is excited to welcome Michael Ryan to its growing team. Michael comes to Mercatus from Backstop Solutions, a CRM platform for the private markets. We recently sat down with him to learn more about his new role, what brought him to Mercatus, and his thoughts on the future of private market technology.
What is your role at Mercatus?
My role at Mercatus is Solution Engineering Manager with the primary focus being on engaging with and listening to prospects during the sales process and helping them better understand our solution. I plan to use my strong experience in pre-sales to help continue the upward trend in growth and bring Mercatus’s technology to life for our clients.
What is your career background / story?
I have worked in the financial services industry for seven years, all in a client servicing capacity. My most recent experience has been in software servicing both liquid and illiquid alternative investment managers.
In your past role(s) what are some unmet needs from private market investors around data management technology?
Clients want a data management solution that gives them more transparency and insights as quickly as possible. Each client is different and the need for a flexible and configurable solution is urgent. They want to be able to understand with ease the current and future state of their investments.
What excites you about Mercatus?
I am most excited to begin working with and learning from the innovative minds behind Mercatus and to help continue the success in bringing such a rewarding solution to the private market space. Additionally, I am excited to work within our consultative and fine-tuned sales process.
How do you see private market technology evolving over the next decade?
Technology is continuing to evolve daily across every industry with high importance being placed on data collection and analytics. This trend will continue to follow in private markets in an unprecedented way.
