Mercatus is excited to welcome Chaoyan Zhang to our growing team as a product strategy associate. Chaoyan comes to us from BNY Mellon, where she worked most recently in product strategy supporting fixed income and equity product development. We recently sat down with Chaoyan to learn more about her new role and what brought her to Mercatus.
What is your role at Mercatus and what are you hoping to accomplish?
I am a Product Strategy Associate at Mercatus, supporting new business initiatives and the development of a strategic framework. My goal is to help private market clients to reimagine data management with Mercatus.
What is your career background / story?
Prior to joining Mercatus, I worked at BNY Mellon Investment Management as a Product Strategy Senior Associate, facilitating product positioning for current and proposed investment offerings. Beforehand, I was a rotational analyst at BNYM, providing strategic support for product marketing, portfolio strategy, and wealth management teams.
In your past role(s) what are some unmet needs from private market investors around data management technology?
Many fund managers don’t have a central data system that is interoperable and auditable to manage complex data. Companies that have high reliance on Excel are finding themselves spending too much time on manually pulling/updating data. This can be fixed and Mercatus has a solution for private market investors.
What excites you about Mercatus?
The people, the culture, and the product.
How do you see private market technology evolving over the next decade?
Given the potential of regulatory tightening, we may see accelerated growth in the adoption of streamlined data management globally over the next decade.
