What is your role at Mercatus?
I’m a program manager based in London, where I’m helping to build the business both from a new client perspective but also within existing clients. With the massive European growth plans, I’m also focused on building out the team and adding great people to the organisation over time.
What did you do prior to Mercatus?
I worked at eFront for over 7 years in a number of roles across the professional services team, and more recently I spent 4 years at Lionpoint which is a consulting firm specialising in the alternative investment technology industry.
What excites you about Mercatus?
The whole company is exciting, from the technology to the people to the opportunity for value-driven disruption across private markets. The data platform is incredibly flexible yet manages to fit so many business cases with minimal setup; the marketing is succinct and on-point; the management is experienced with a very clear direction; and the team is great. In summary: the future looks bright at Mercatus!
How do you see private market technology evolving over the next decade?
It’s been said for a few years now that increased pressure from LPs and regulators will mean GPs and asset managers need better processes and technology to meet those demands, and I don’t expect this to change. Data is, now more than ever, a key weapon in gaining competitive advantage. Firms that don’t utilise their data in the best way possible – such as for making key investment decisions and analysing risk – will fall behind their peers, and that will lead to inevitable and obvious consequences.
You recently took part in our sales team week in our San Mateo office, anything memorable?
My biggest takeaway is how positive and focused the organisation is, across every team. The ambition to really drive a difference in the future of private markets investing and global sustainability in a meaningful way is palpable. And I have every confidence this team will deliver. Oh, and on a social note, the commitment to karaoke…this team has that social activity nailed!
Give us a fun fact about yourself.
I’ve been in a couple of TV advert – much to my dismay, although luckily one was only aired in Taiwan, so maybe I’m a celebrity over there?!
