Mercatus is excited to welcome Amanda Riley to its growing team. Amanda comes to us from Intralinks, a technology firm that helps dealmakers streamline financial transactions. We recently sat down with her to learn more about her new role and what brought her to Mercatus.

What is your role at Mercatus and what are you hoping to accomplish?

I’m an Account Manager at Mercatus, where I hope to expand our existing client base across different segments, and ensure our users are maximizing the platform to its utmost capacity.

What is your career background/story?

Prior to joining Mercatus, I spent three years at Intralinks as an Account Executive, selling Virtual Data Rooms to streamline strategic financial transactions, predominately M&A. Beforehand, I worked for a primary investment research firm, where I brokered consultations between hedge fund analysts and subject matter experts in the areas of their prospective investments.

In your past role(s) what are some unmet needs from private market investors around data management technology?

Key themes I’ve noticed are the high reliance on Excel and disparate systems to manage complex transactional data and high turnover at the junior levels. This typically is a result of an organization’s inability to embrace new technology as they scale, resulting in increased headcount to manage low-level tasks.

What excites you about Mercatus?

The highly flexible nature of the Mercatus platform promotes a consultative relationship between our team and our clients, allowing them to view us as an integral part of their data strategy. This agility also has allowed Mercatus to swiftly enter new market segments. Apart from the product, the people seem to be the greatest asset.

How do you see private market technology evolving over the next decade?

Investors that are thinking more critically about the way they aggregate and analyze data today will be more competitive in the long run than those who rely on traditional methods. While technology today has been widely adopted through siloed systems, it will become commonplace for firms to unite their data across platforms.

What is your favorite/go-to Karaoke song?

Anything by ABBA, I can’t pick a favorite.
