Mercatus is excited to welcome Alex Sierra to its growing team. Alex comes to Mercatus from Brookfield Asset Management, bringing his years of experience in private markets and data management. We recently sat down with Alex to learn more about his new role, what brought him to Mercatus, and his thoughts on the future of the private market technology.
What is your role at Mercatus?
I’m a sales associate working with both the sales and marketing teams to grow our client base. My primary focus right now is on developing the pipeline for the second half of the year.
What is your background / story?
I was most recently an internal sales rep for Brookfield Asset Management, selling both private and public Real Assets financial products.
In your past role(s) what are some unmet needs from private market investors around data management technology?
Asset managers are looking for one place for their portfolio managers to access data, instead of having to collect data from different teams using different spreadsheets.
How do you see private market technology evolving over the next decade?
Excel will be a thing of the past, and private investments will be a bigger portion of retail portfolios.
What excites you about Mercatus?
The fast growth, flat structure and the fact that everyone is open to new ideas.
What is your go-to karaoke song?
Father and Son by Cat Stevens
